Star Wars Volunteer

Two weekends ago, I volunteered for the Star Wars 10k and Half-Marathon. The first day I woke up around 1:45 a.m. and set-up a water station. I gave out water from around 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. We kinda weren’t prepared for how many runners came through at the end and we ran out of prepared water for about 10 minutes.

Then, the next day, I woke up again around 1:45 a.m. and was a race direction volunteer. It was quite horrible. I would say 95% of runners are nice. After that race, I would say 80%. Many did not seem to listen. I was also at a section where the people who got picked up by a bus had to come to the finish line and they wanted an extra medal. It is a long story, but if you don’t finish the race, you do get a finisher medal, but you don’t get a challenge medal saying that you completed two races. Anyways, people wanted the challenge medal and we had to tell them they couldn’t get it as they didn’t finish the race. People were frustrated. Other runners wanted to go backwards and go to previous medical stations. It was a hard job.
