We made it to Florida!

We left on Friday and made it to Florida on Sunday afternoon.

If you have to weigh the risks between flying or driving in a pandemic. I might choose flying. You still could catch it at a hotel or a gas station while driving and driving on the east coast was quite hairy.

We went through Indianapolis, Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington(stayed overnight there), and down to Pigeon Forge. We stopped by Colonel Sanders’ original KFC. The roads were not bad until we arrive near Smoky Mountain National Park. There were a lot of people going fast on mountainous roads. It was somewhat tough, but the Smokies were nice. We climbed up to the tallest point in the park: Clingmans Dome. It was great to breathe the mountain air.

We ate BBQ in Asheville afterwards and saw the shopping areas. We stayed in Columbia, SC for the night. On Sunday, we drove down I-95 which really was not too bad except it did seem very busy. We drove down A1A for a little while after seeing the beach in Jacksonville. We saw a Buc-ees opened in Daytona Beach, so we stopped there. It was packed. It was somewhat overwhelming to see so many people.

We made it to Orlando around 4 p.m. Our resort is very nice. Our room has two bathrooms, two showers, one hot tub, 3 beds, a dining room, a living room, a kitchen, and a nice porch. It is missing a little Disney magic, but a deluxe room like ours at Disney would have been 8x what we are paying. We head to Epcot tomorrow night.
