Wow. I have not updated in so long. Well, I think 9 days or so.
Last weekend, I went to the Marathon Expo and I renewed my pass. I went into Disney 86 times last year, but it includes multiple entrances on the same day.
The Expo is always fun. Marathon weekend is the best as it is the largest race weekend.
Last weekend, I went to cheer on the marathoners. If you haven’t cheered on runners at the end of a marathon, it is quite an experience. I started at the finish line at 4 hours, so the really good runners were coming through. I walked through Epcot to Beach Club and came back to France. In France, I saw runners taking selfies at mile 25. I offered to take some of the runners. I walked around the world. Then, I walked over to Swan and Dolphin and cheered. I took a bus over to Hollywood Studios. By the time I arrived, the race was over. I took a bus back to Epcot and cheered on the last runners at the 8 hour-mark. Only the announcers and volunteers were still in the stands. Some of the last runners had run the 5k, the 10k, the half, and the marathon in the last four days. It was really fun.
The Mayor’s Economic Summit was on Thursday. My card handout was on each table along with the agenda. There were about 600 people there. My handout matched the new bus by coincidence.
On Friday night, I went and played tennis with the Central Florida Tennis Club. It was at the Orlando Tennis Center. It was really fun. I basically got a 2-hour tennis from a tennis pro for $5 as all the good people played each other. The tennis pro said that I was a tennis star in a previous life. Ha. The club plays for a few hours and then we went to a hole in the wall restaurant afterwards. I met a lot of people. I knew one guy from my MBA program and I met another guy who worked for the City of Kissimmee. Another guy from Texas was talking about the Spurs and I told him that the Spurs are in town April 6th. He has tickets. I actually do too. I think the night was a success. Ha. This would be the first weekend in forever that I did not go to Disney.
Early Saturday morning, I drove up to Blue Spring State Park to see the manatees. Manatees are no pandas. I love pandas. I saw probably 50 manatees. Think if I saw 50 pandas!
I drove over to New Smyrna Beach. I ran into a Business Fair and a Farmers Market. I bought a really great pretzel for $2! I drove to and drove on the beach! I walked on the beach.
Today Lynn and I explored the west side of the county. We went to Ft. Island Beach. It was a great beach, different than what you think of Florida. It looked like Michigan. We ate at the Crab House while watching monkeys on Monkey Island. I had a grilled crab cake and key lime pie. We drove out to Ozello which included a windy road. We ended the day by checking out the manatees from the Board Walk at Three Sisters.
I have been working on a new one. I had a nice three-column footer, but it was not responsive on iPads and Phones. I will look into that tomorrow at work.
Google plus created a story from our trip to Las Vegas over New Years.
In some ways, the “stories” feature is really neat. It organized the pictures according to date and it found locations of pictures even from my camera (not just from my phone). I don’t think it included all the pictures from my gallery though. I was able to include a few more that didn’t include but still grabbed, but I still would have liked a little more control. I think it is neat even if I might still create a video. I think it missed about 50 pictures, but it is still a nice feature and it will be amazing in a few years probably.
