Best of North Carolina

I used three different cameras, so Movie Maker had trouble formatting all the pictures.

I just gave up. I think the video below will at least give the gist of the last week. There should be music.I changed my Facebook cover page to this. There were many more gargoyles inside the house. There were also 62 Christmas trees in the house.

Yanbin’s Family

Robert got Yanbin’s family into Hollywood Studios today. They went on the Great Movie ride and Muppets 3D. They saw the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Indiana Jones. I went with them to the Muppets and Beauty and the Beast. I also went to the new Frozen  Sing-Along show. It was clever and funny.

I took my long lens today. It was fun. Yanbin gave me some photography tips. The pictures would be more impressive if you knew how far away I was.

Smash Mouth 2014

I went to Epcot tonight to see Smash Mouth. I know most of their hits. They have hits compared to most of the bands who are one-hit wonders.

I had the crispy pork belly in Brazil which was the worst. I also had the sushi in Japan.

Reunion

Yesterday was really busy. I went to my last Boot Camp workout. I have been going to Boot Camp for 21 days. It has been worth it. I might go for a few months starting in January. I was able to use a Groupon to get the package down to $49 from $229. My friend pays $130 per month. If you pay that much, you better go everyday and I don’t want to and sometimes can’t. I am going to wait and see if they have a “Resolution” deal in January as I will have more time then.

I went shopping afterwards and I went to see the Iowa – Indiana Game at Noon. At 5 p.m., I met Karen, Tony, and Christopher at Epcot. The three of them were some of the first friends I had in Orlando. All of worked at French Quarter. It was really fun remembering all the fun times we had. I had forgotten how much we had done together. We are going to get together again probably to play some board games in the hotels around Christmas. We might try to go to SeaWorld and see that parks’ Christmas shows.

I was told on Friday afternoon to come up with a fun activity for an event my workplace is having on Tuesday night that relates to trade. I am going to divide the attendees into 4 groups or countries. Each group will each receive an assortment of candy from certain brands. So, one group will receive different flavors of Tootsie pops. Another group will receive Starbursts, Skittles, Mamba, etc. Another group will receive (Nestle brand) Butterfingers, O Henrys, etc. And the fourth group will receive Milky Ways, Mars, etc.  There will be four rounds. In the first round, each person has to say how happy they are with their piece of candy. In the second round, each country can trade within its own group and then repeat saying how happy they are. In the third round, there will be a free trade agreement where two countries can trade with each other and then repeat saying how happy they are. In the fourth round, all countries will be able to trade with anyone and repeat how happy they are. After the fourth round, most, if not all, countries should be better off than without trade. While we will not have time for tariffs, to show the power of Free Trade Agreements, I think and hope it will work out well.

Last night, Karen and Christopher helped me think of countries. I designed the countries’ flags today.

Sugar Ray

Tonight, I went to Epcot to see Sugar Ray. I think he was big in 1998, 1999, and on. I think one of his songs was in the movie “Space Jam.” Shereta and I went to see him first 5 years ago.

I have a lot of fun playing with my camera. I forgot how to focus the camera, so it took me a while to learn again.

Yard Bird and Sushi

Today, I went to see the Tower of Terror Ten Miler Expo. I was able to see the medal for the Wine and Dine Half-Marathon. I also went to Epcot. I tried two things from the “Top 10 Must Tastes” on the Visit Orlando blog.

I tried the Yard Bird from Farm Fresh and Japan’s Spicy Tuna and Salmon Roll.

Review on Visit Orlando about the Yard Bird:
NEW! Enjoy a taste of Southern comfort food that’s fresh from the farm. Our top choice is the Griddled “Yard Bird” (chicken thigh) on a bed of collards served with a dollop of habanero sauce.

Review on Visit Orlando about the Sushi:
This treat is our staff’s top pick for its value. You get a full sushi roll for around the same price or less than most plates at the other marketplaces.

The Yard Bird was AMAZING! It was really great. It was a real meal. The sushi was a good deal. It was pretty spicy for me. I asked for the habanero sauce to be taken off the Yard Bird, so I don’t know how it would be with that sauce on it. It was really good. The collard greens really went well with the chicken.

Oh yes, I forgot. On Thursday, my boss came into my office and said that we needed to be at a luncheon in an hour. The mayor did mention my name in her remarks, so it was good I was there. BUT I also won the grand prize of chocolate. I keep winning prizes with about 50 people in the room.

Due to heat and weight, these pictures were taken on my little point and shoot Canon camera.

Oktoberfest in Central FL

Tonight, I went to the German American Society of Central Florida’s Oktoberfest. It was really packed and in a small area. They had some dancing and music, but it seemed like 75% of the people there were only there for the Beer Gardens and not because they were German or appreciated the food, etc. They had their building open and some students were dancing. Evidently, you can take lessons on Wednesday nights at the center.

I had two pretzel rolls, schnitzel, German potato salad, and sauerkraut. I am glad that I went, but the buffet at Epcot is just as good and Oktoberfest in the Amana Colonies is much better.

SeaWorld and Magic Kingdom

Yesterday, I went to SeaWorld and Magic Kingdom. I knew there was a show I wanted to see at SeaWorld at 3 p.m. Due to a variety of reasons including traffic and rain, I made it into my seat at 2:57 p.m. It was a really neat show. It was like Cirque du Soleil and Chinese Acrobats meshed together. I also saw the sharks, dolphins, and whales again.

I ate at Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney and then, we went to Magic Kingdom. I went on Buzz LightYear, the people mover, and Big Thunder. I saw some of the parade, Celebrate You, and Wishes.
