Hawks Win in cold Iowa City

Andrea and I went to the Iowa game on Saturday. It was cold which is why we were given the tickets. I think anyone could have found tickets if they wanted to see the game. Andrea’s friends from high school/college had 6 out of 8 tickets unused. I regret not wearing boots. My breathable running shoes allowed too much cold air into my  shoes, so my toes were pretty cold. It was the coldest kickoff of all time at 18 degrees (4 degrees windchill). We left after the third interception was thrown late in the third quarter only to learn that Iowa came back to win 24 – 21 !!!!!! I think we left when it was 14 – 21.

Food and Wine Half-Marathon!!

Yesterday, we went to the Expo, ate Earl of Sandwich, and met friends at Sweet Tomatoes.

After Sweet Tomatoes, we went to the starting line of the Food and Wine Half-Marathon. The race was fun. It is always hard as there are many people to avoid. By mile 12, it was getting tough, but it was still really fun. I am only going to upload the pictures Yanbin took on his. I will upload more later. The clarity and quality of his pictures are amazing!

Preparing for next weekend

I made two signs for next weekend. Jonathan (my cousin) and maybe a few other friends can/ will hold them. I have seen the quotes before, but I added the “long,” “gone,” and “you.” 🙂 My phone does not connect to my computer to obtain my pictures and my camera seems to be blurry. Life. Blargh.

Game Night

After work, Jenna, Armando, and Armando’s cousin came over to play games. We played Bananagrams, Set, CatchPhrase, and Scum. Armando’s goal is to beat me at Set. He did get 8 sets last night to my 9 sets! I later got 17 to his 4. I don’t want my streak to end. It is always fun, but I can’t do it too much as we played until 4 a.m. and I worked at 6:45 a.m. I usually get too much sleep. There needs to be a balance. We had to go outside to the porch, because Teddy wasn’t feeling well and was trying to sleep. It was between 40 and 50, so Shereta brought out her electric blanket!

This is the first week of a huge grade (20% or higher). I have a test in Managerial Economic Analysis of the Firm on Thursday. I did well on the practice test, but I am sure the test is much harder. It is intuitive, but sometimes I get confused. I am competing with some pretty smart people not with a collection of freshmen students, so I don’t want to make any careless mistakes.

The executive chef from the resort saw my training manuals and contracted me to design some for the other side of the resort. Today, the chef let me eat a Creole Shrimp Cheeseburger with fries as a bonus for updating the manuals. It was delicious. I am getting abused, but at least, I can do something fun and I don’t have to deal with guests.

Speaking of delicious, due to my sister’s ranting and raving, I went and bought a juicer. I have gone through 2 bags of carrots and 8 apples. It is great!!!

Well, I am off to Illuminations to get out in the air.

Hard Drive

Wow. I have not updated in a while. I really only do things that I already have tons of pictures of like Illuminations or walking around Coronado Springs.

In other news, my hard drive from my old computer stopped working. Forunately, I have this blog and some pictures on picassa that have pictures saved on the internet. I only had the old computer for a little more than a year, so right now I don’t know how important it is to have it recovered.

I continue to go to school. The classes are different than UCD maybe more practical, but also easier. I would be in great shape if I had a better background in finance and accounting. There are many business majors in my classes and if not business, then engineering. I have met one Art major and one lawyer who majored in criminal justice. I met a person last night who drives from Jacksonville, but only once a week.

A new experience at EPCOT

On Monday, Robert and I went to the Boardwalk to see a friend. She was not working. Then, we decided to go to EPCOT. We had a strawberry oolong slush from China and also the almond pretzel in Norway. It was almost eerie out as it was very foggy and about 70 degrees. Illuminations was non-existent. We heard the music and heard the fireworks going off, but saw nothing. I feel sorry for the guests who are only at Epcot once and that was their experience, but for us, it was an Illuminations we will remember.

I didn’t have school on Monday, so this was a short a week. I have six weeks until Spring Break and then, six weeks until Finals. Four times per week to UCF is a hassle, but it will be worth it in the end. I think I have another six week term in June that meets twice a week, so for two classes, I will go four times again also, but it will be better than spending the entire summer down here. I talked to a classmate last night and she is hoping to finish in the Spring of 2012 also AND she hasn’t taken her pre-reqs. I already have those four courses complete. After June, I will be down to 4 classes left and 3 electives (which I hope include two internships and a micro-business trip to a developing country), if everything goes to plan. Another classmate is my age, has four children ages 8,6, and twin 4-year-old boys and is an international student, so she has to take 3 classes to keep her visa! I can do this!

Using My Christmas Gifts

I have been using my grill that I received for Christmas. I also went shopping with my Disney gift card buying a flower pot I have wanted for a year. I was waiting until I got 40% off. I also bought an annual Mickey. I know I bought a 2009 Mickey when I started my College Program now officially two years ago, but I can’t remember if I have a 2010 one. I bought some food with the remainder of the card.
