First Class Completed

I went to school yesterday really early. I had to obtain a parking pass and an ID. There are many places to eat on campus including Sbarro, Burger King, Chik-Fil-A, and Subway. Class was interesting. There is a lot of diversity in age and ethinicity. I think there were probably 5 or 6 Indians. Finals are the last week of April, so it is just over three months. I really think my classes on Wednesday and Thursday are going to be the toughest. We have MLK Jr. day off, so we only have three days next week! Four days a week driving there is hard, but day by day, I will do it.

Last Days of Freedom

We stayed in Homestead, Florida. I wanted to drive up the East Coast, but we were both pretty sick, so the day was somewhat of a bust. We went to a different entrance to the Everglades and also to Biscayne National Park. We did go to Sawgrass Mills which is a huge outlet mall near Ft. Lauderdale. We drove through Boca Raton and saw many green golf courses. Finally, we went to Vero Beach where we saw the Disney’s Vacation Club resort. We needed more time for everything there is to do in south Florida.

Everglades

We left Everglades City and went to Everglades National Park. Immediately, when we entered, we saw two alligators. None of the rangers seemed to care. We could walk around without any supervision. We wanted to get down to Key West today, so we didn’t really stay too long, but it was neat. We ate lunch in Marathon, FL. Dad ate grouper and I had a seafood quesadilla stuffed with scallops and shrimp. I still need to work on changing the direction of the pictures in this new gallery layout.

Key West

After the Everglades, we headed down to Key West. We saw Ernest Hemingway’s home and also Harry S. Truman’s Winter White House. The area was quite packed and had many tourist shops. We went by a Refuge for Key Deer. We saw one. It was the cutest little deer that I have seen. It was small. Later, we ate in Islamorada, Florida. There was alligator and even dolphin on the menu, but I guess it was mahi mahi, not the cute dolphin “we love” a worker said. We had Key Lime Pie again. It was strong, but very good.

We are back up North in Homestead. We probably will drive up the East Coast tomorrow.
